An image of Textiles. Band sampler. Unidentified maker, England. The sampler comprises 11 horizontal bands include repeat border patterns, an alphabet, 'boxers' and the initials 'EG EG SG IW'. Linen, embroidered with polychrome silks and silver metal threads in cross, double back, double running, satin and needle lace filling stitches. Length 68.9 cm, width 20.3 cm, circa 1675.
