An image of Japanese pottery. Ember pot. Ogata, Kenzan (1663-1743). Ogata, Korin (1658 -1716). Production Place: Japan, Kyoto. Hexagonal brown stoneware pot, slab-built with lifted base. Winter landscape decoration continues round all six sides, comprising temple by a lake, house, gazebo, trees, clouds and waves, in subdued colours; cream, blue, brown, black. Black rim. Cloud decoration continues inside. Stoneware, hand-built, with brush painting pigments, height 10.90 cm, diameter, rim, 14.20 cm, diameter, base, 14.50 cm, 1658-1743. Edo Period (1615-1868). Production Note: the landscape is almost certainly by Korin.
