Ono no Komachi, by Totoya Hokkei

Notes: The poem tells us that this blooming cherry tree, named Komachi after the famous court beauty and poet, is so elegant in the spring rain that all the other trees are eager to gaze at her with their opened buds (the Japanese word for ‘buds’, me, also means ‘eyes’).
