Chinese Ding type lamp or incense burner

An image of Lamp or incense burner. The deep sided bowl has a wide, slightly sloping rim and is supported on a circular 'frilled' foot, and a cylindrical stem with a downward slanting 'frilled' flange at its junction with the bowl. Ding type. Two areas, one small one large, have been restored with what may be lacquer, and a crack has been filled with the same material. There are two short cracks in the rim, and six shallow chips on the underside of the foot. Porcelain or stoneware, with ivory white glaze and lacquer repairs, height 12.6 cm, diameter 13.5 cm, 1000-1127. Northern Song (960-1127). Acquisition Credit: Lent to the museum by Helen H. L.
