Image attached to T.65-1977

An image of Textiles. Panel. Unknown, China, possibly made in Macao or the Philippines. White silk tabby weave, polychrome silk embroidery. Length, whole, 85, cm, width, whole, 27, cm, circa 1700-circa 1799. Notes: The panel must have been worked for the export market, possibly for a woman's dress and probably to a European design, hence the inclusion of the honeysuckle and the meandering border of rosehips and the overall stiffness of the composition. The stitching technique is entirely Chinese although it may have been made in Macao or the Philippines. Acquisition Credit: Given by Mrs. Soame Jenyns, in accordance with the wishes of her late husband, Soame Jenyns.
