Engraved jasper gem with Anubis and Osiris

Image attached to CG 493

An image of Engraved gems. Magical amulet. Obverse: an ithyphallic and possibly mummified Anubis to the right confronting a figure seated upon a rock. The figure seems also to be bandaged like a mummy and, from the arms bent across the chest- the characteristic gesture of the god who holds the flail and sceptre- and a misconstrued atef crown, this seated mummy can be identified as Osiris. Between the two- Osiris and Anubis- are a star and an obelisk which bears the vertical inscription. Reverse: blank. Intaglio cutting, green jasper, 18 mm x 14 mm, circa 100-circa 300. Roman Imperial.
