  • Dragon. Unknown maker, China. Recalls the bas relief images in Han tombs. A passage from the Huai-nan-tzu states "a clay dragon brings rain". Unglazed grey earthenware, slight traces of white slip, and red and black paint remain, height 16 cm, length 25 cm, circa 385-580. Northern Wei. Acquisition Credit: Bequeathed by Mrs Walter Sedgwick through the National Art Collections Fund.
