Clay ladle bowl with burnished decoration. Made by modelling with fingers and burnished inside and outside. There is also a vertical rippling effect on the outside of the pot. The wall is drawn up on one side to create a hand grip.The rim is milled and the mouth is egg-shaped rather than circular but is stull perfectly symmetrical. Made from nile silt clay and fired to produce a dark black finish that is typical of early Nubian pottery. The walls are very thin measuring 3.0 mm. This type of pottery is known as A-type by archaeologists and this particular vessel dates to the middle or end of this period.
