Pair of scissors. Unknown maker, China. Pair of beaten silver alloy scissors. The handle is a wire spring shaped and the cutters are slightly convex on one side, and flat on the other. Each of the flat sides is decorated with a flying bird and a palmette scroll, and each of the convex sides with confronted palmettes. The pattern is bounded by a narrow plain border and chased on a ground of regular ring matting. Silver alloy, engraving, blades, chasing, length 14.9 cm, width 2.8 cm, T’ang Dynasty (618-906).
