English gold mourning ring with a woman by an urn

An image of Jewellery. Ring/Mourning Ring. Thin, narrow hoop expanding at the shoulders. Marquise shaped bezel with enamel border, gold dots reserved in white enamel. Under glass a painting on ivory of a woman seated by an urn, which is on a pedestal bearing the inscription: 'NOT LOST BUT GONE BEFORE'. Above the pedestal a cherub holds a scroll inscribed: 'TO BLISS'. On the back of the bezel is the inscription: 'Garsford Gibbs Obt 25 Dec 1788 aet 15'. Height, whole, 1.25 mm, depth, whole, 1.0 mm, length, whole, 20.5 mm, height, bezel (marquise) 4.5 mm, width, bezel (marquise) 19.0 mm, length, bezel (marquise) 33.5 mm, 1788. English.
