Plate. Unknown production, China. The plate is painted in underglaze blue, decorated with asters in petal-shaped panels at the border enclosing five similar flower-heads amongst a dense whorled-pattern at the centre. On the base there are two encircled fish with a flower. This design was especially popular in the Middle East. Hard-paste porcelain, underglaze colour, height 3.9 cm, diameter 27.2 cm, 1600-1699.
