Ornament/Boulder. Rich dark translucent green jade boulder carved with an old man with a stick and a boy with a branch of peach fruit in a landscape where peach and pine trees grow and a pavilion in the distance. The pine, peach and old man all represent longevity. The whole scene, together with a boy with a branch of peach in his hand can be interpreted as searching for immortality. The design may have been inspired by a woodblock print. Jade/nephrite, height 12.2 cm, length 15.8 cm, 1700-1800. Chinese.
