In the middle, a circular medallion surrounded by alternately triangular and wavy rays, encloses a three-quarter length portrait of George II, wearing coronation robes, and holding a sceptre. The cypher G R is divided on either side of his head and the figure 2 is below the R. Buff earthenware, press-moulded over a hump mould to produce a design with milled edges in relief on the interior, coated with cream slip, and slip trailed in brown and dark brown, under yellowish lead glaze; the exterior is undecorated. Circular with deep curved sides and a pie crust edge produced by impressing a shell or tool. The interior is decorated with a circular medallion bordered by two concentric dark brown circles and alternate brown triangular and dark brown wavy rays extending to the outer edge. The medallion encloses a three-quarter length figure of George II wearing a crown and coronation robes, and holding a sceptre. The royal cipher 'G R' (Georgius Rex) is divided on either side of his head, with '2' below the' R'.
