    <value>red earthenware, with moulded decoration in relief covered with dark brown glaze: a man and woman embracing flanked by panels each with a crozier from the arms of Basle, a figure of a woman with a basket on her head, and three acorns</value>
  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Red earthenware with applied moulded relief decoration, and two ring handles, covered overall with dark brown lead-glaze. The cistern is half octagonal in plan with a flat back. The two ends are applied with ring handles near the top. The wide central panel at the front has a spigot hole near the base, and above, a standing man and woman wearing seventeenth-century costume. On either side of them there are narrower slanting panels each decorated at the top with a crozier (the charge on the shield-of-arms of Basle), below that, a woman standing with a basket of fruit on her head, and at the bottom, three acorns. Incised roughly on the exterior of the back is the date '1763'.</value>
