The flask or hand-warmer is in the shape of a book with a large circular aperture in the top close to the spine. Pseudo-clasps hold the back and front together over the fore-edge. The front and back are decorated with nine rectangular panels: four containing masks, four containing plant motifs, and the central panel, incised lattice pattern.
