CATT.D.Z.N. & SCHAWENB (Landgrave of Hesse, Prince of Hirschfeld, Count of KIatzenelnbogen, Diez, Ziegenhain, Nidda and Schaumberg). On either side repeated, is an oval medallion with a half-length portrait of Queen Mary II of England, enclosed by the legend, 'MARIA. D. G. MAG. BRIT. FRANC. ET HIB. REGINA. &'. Attached to the top of the handle is a hinged mount attached to the shallow flat-topped cover and fluted ball thumbpiece.
