The jug has a bulbous body with a tall cylindrical neck pinched at the front to form a lip, and a loop handle with a central longitudinal ridge, and a pointed extension below its lower junction with the body. On the front is an incised plant with thirteen pairs of lance-shaped leaves, and one more on the right of the stem, alternately coloured in blue and manganese-purple, and perhaps intended to represent a palm frond or fern. This is flanked by vertical foliated scrolls with small areas coloured manganese-purple, reserved in a blue ground. The area on either side of, and under, the handle is undecorated. The glaze has produced a prominent 'orange-peel' effect on the grey areas.C.2055-19281accession numberC.2055-192873059priref73059old object number1933urihttps://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/73059https://data.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/id/object/73059to side to left of the foliaged scroll on left of palm frondincised4numberreferenceagent-149638adlib-agent-1496387376d833-d0a7-3be0-916e-9c892b7a24d8The Fitzwilliam MuseumDr J.
