The vase has a ovoid body standing on a short stem and a high domed foot. It has a short wide neck, a loop handle with a kick at the bottom, and a short straight spout linked to the neck by a small ring. Below the spout, painted in blue, are the royal arms of France (a crown over an oval shield charged with three fleur-de-lis), supported by angels, with below, a cartouche enclosing the name of the contents, 'Sirup/Emetic', painted in black.
