Pale buff earthenware, moulded, with incised mouth and inscription, tin-glazed white and painted in bluish-grey. The stylised pig is made in two parts: body, and head, which is attached by means of a projection which latches into a hole at the top of the rim of the body. On the top of the body next to the junction with the head is the inscription 'wunt be druv'. The pig is painted all over with circles, ovals, hearts, spots and squiggles, and with two large oval shapes on the ears. The pig is accompanied by a red cardboard rectangular box and cover (C.27B & C-1996), with a white label on the top, printed in black with a line border enclosing an image of the pig and the inscription 'The Sussex Pig/RYE POTTERY/RYE SUSSEX ENGLAND'.
