'Dolgelly' (was) bought by a member of the Worsley family from Cotman in Oct. or Nov. 1805, as Cotman was then staying with the Cholmeleys of Brandsby Hall, Yorks, 2 1/2 miles from Hovingham.' 1804 1804 1804 circa 1804 1805 Kitson suggest that Cotman painted this version of Dolgelly in the winter of 1804-5, after a sketch made in 1802, during his second tour in Wales, when he and his travelling companion, Paul Sandby Munn, stayed in Dolgelly for four days, 19-23 July.
