The flat underside is unglazed and has a circular ventilation hole near the back. The low, roughly triangular base has a low tree stump at the back which supports the figure, and at the front and back some applied green leaves. The bare-footed woman stands on her left leg with the right advanced so that the foot projects over the edge of the base. She looks towards her right and leans forward slightly as she holds out a large grey fish in both hands. Over her black hair she has a black pointed bonnet which covers her ears, and is tied below her chin with a dark pink bow. She wears a white chemise with turned up sleeves, a pink bodice laced over a black stomacher, a yellow skirt caught up round her buttocks by a black belt, and a pale lilac apron.
