  • Islamic Pottery. Tile Panel. Production Place: Qallaline, North Africa. Shape: rectangular panel comprising fifty tiles in ten rows of five, enclosed in a light wood frame. Upper surface: sprouting from a central winged vase a floral spray, including saz leaves and rosettes in which two birds perch, dominates the surface. At the edges of the panel, two columns with capitals support a pointed archway whose spandrels enclosing scrolling floral sprays. Earthenware, mould made, painted in turquoise, yellow, blue, green with a brown outline, under (or in) a white glaze. Height, whole, 151 cm, width, whole, 78 cm, 1800-1900.
