There are two thin lustre bands around the shoulder, a thicker band around the inside and outside of the rim and a lustre outline along the sides of the handle. The jug was then coated in lustre, which only adhered to the unpainted parts. Pink lustre is produced by depositing minute amounts of gold onto the white earthenware surface. Silver lustre, which uses platinum, was however more popular for resist lustre jugs, which generally date from the early part of the nineteenth century.  Leeds and Staffordshire were the main centres of production."},{"value":"This type of jug was made for everyday use.
