The bulbous teapot has a crabstock handle and spout. The lid has a bent twig handle. The decoration imitates Chinese  famille rose style porcelain. On each side is a scroll, partly unrolled to reveal a vase with flowers and ribbons. The scroll is flanked by floral sprays. Round the mouth of the pot, is a narrow green diaper border broken by four small oblong panels containing a flower. The cover has a similar but wider border enclosing two small floral sprays. 'Famille rose' porcelain was produced in China in the 18th-century for the Western market and is characterised by the use of soft colours, including rose pink.
