    <value>lead-glazed earthenware painted in enamels. Summer represented as a girl holding a sickle and a wheatsheaf</value>
  </description>
  <description>
    <value>Earthenware, moulded, covered with slightly blue tinted lead-glaze, and painted in greyish-green, pale and dark yellow, flesh pink, pink, maroon, pale brown, dark brown, and black enamels. The underside has a ventilation hole in the centre. The base is square with straight sides canted inwards on the underside, and is decorated on each side with a continuous maroon band. The figure is supported on a mound base which rises up at the back and is painted in green and brown to resemble rocks and grass. Summer is represented by a young woman standing holding a sickle in her right hand and a sheaf of corn in her left arm. She looks downwards to the viewer's right. She has pale brown hair covered by a white hat with a narrow brim tied under her chin with a black ribbon, and wears a white chemise which has fallen off her right shoulder, a pink bodice laced down the back, a white skirt with maroon trellis border on the lower edge, and a white apron.</value>
