    <value>Off-white earthenware transfer-printed, painted in blue, green, yellow and red enamels, and lustred pink. Cylindrical with two horizontal strap handles with trefoil leaf terminals. Decorated on the front with an oval printed view of Sunderland Bridge inscribed 'A WEST VIEW of the CAST IRON BRIDGE Over the RIVER WEAR BUILT BY R BURDON Esqr/Span 236 Feet Height 100 Feet Begun 24 Sepr 1793 Opend 9 Aug 1796'. The other side is decorated with a wreath of printed and enamelled flowers and foliage enclosing the verse: 'THE GOOD WIFE.'/Show me the wife that's on the watch/For every little rent, or scratch,/And cures it with a timely patch/Before you know it;/She is a women (sic) fit to match,/A Lord, or Poet.' The rest of the surface is decorated with pink lustre 'clouds'. There is a broad pink lustre band on the interior, top and exterior of the rim, and on each handle a spot flanked by horizontal strokes.</value>
