<value>Faïence with white splashed decoration is described in France as 'à la bougie', because it resembles splashes of wax from candles. It was used on tableware, vases, and pharmacy jars. The cover has a slightly different blue glaze from the bowl and stand, and is also a little loose, which suggests that it may originally have been with a different vessel.</value>
