The shallow, well rounded sides taper towards the small straight foot. The exterior is finely enamelled with two ovid cartouches edged in black pencilled scrolls, one enclosing a scene of two brown quail standing on a grassy bank beneath overhanging sprays of pink chrysanthemum growing from pierced rockwork. The other with a pair of songbirds perched on bare branches, issuing from an outcrop of angular rockwork flanked by peonies. Both cartouches are reserved against a ground of intricate lotus scrollwork in gilding. The interior is undecorated. Mark: six character mark of Yongzheng, written horizontally within a double circle in underglaze blue.
