Studies of hands with musical instruments for 'The Golden Stairs'. Burne-Jones, Edward (British, 1833-1898). Graphite on white cartridge paper, height 263 mm, width 175 mm, circa 1878. Production Note: Seven studies of hands holding cymbals, viols and a tamboruine, for 'The Golden Stairs' (1872-80 Tate Gallery). Burne-Jones used the Italian model Antonia Cura for all the girls' bodies in the picture.
