Silver wine taster with kidney-shaped thumb-piece, by Pierre Desnos

An image of Wine taster. Desnos, Pierre II, silversmith (French, 18th century). The circular bowl has slightly bulbous sides, and slightly raised base. The kidney shaped thumb-piece is attached to the bowl by leaf-shaped scrolls, undher wish is a finger ring. The upper surface is inscribed 'AVEC LE TEMPS' and engraved with a flaming heart and a cupid holding a hammer. The side of the bowl is inscribed 'J Laisney'. Silver, height, to top of handle, 4.4 cm, width, rim to handle, 11.5 cm, weight, whole, 120 g, 1754. Louis XV.
