The Muse of Orpheus. Delacroix, Eugène (French, 1798-1863). Pen and ink heightened with oil on paper laid down on canvas, height, canvas, 21.3 cm, width, canvas, 25.5 cm; height, frame, 37.4 cm, width, frame, 44.4 cm, depth, frame, 4 cm, 1845-1847. Production Note: This is a study for one of the four pendentives in the library of the Palais du Luxembourg (Senate), Paris. The decorations of which they form part were begun by Delacroix in the above period.
