Sculpture. Torso of the Belvedere. Adapted as Hercules with lion skin. Bronze, cast, height, whole, 19.6 cm, circa 1500- 1600. Italian. Notes: An adaptation of the antique marble torso in the sculpture court of the Belvedere in the Vatican. The lion skin is a reference to the first labour of Hercules, the strangling of the Nemean lion.
