<value>Original pen and ink schematic drawings (some with colour added by hand) of snow crystal structures, and photogenic drawing contact negatives.

The pen and ink drawings derive from observations of snow crystals, magnified and drawn to symmetrical proportions. Some are cut into hexagonal shape, and show the three-dimensional structure of a crystal lattice.

Figure numbers, where given, refer to the images represented as snow crystal types in “Snow Crystals observed by James Glaisher, Esq., F.R.S., from February 8th to March 10th, 1855” published by the British Meteorological Society, 1855.</value>
