      <value>244 pages. Each story begins with a large decorated initial in gold and colours, designed and executed by William Morris in a style deriving form the white-vine decoration of Italian Renaissance manuscripts. Smaller initials in a similar style, with some use of silver, are found throughout the stories .
Given by William Morris to Lady Burne-Jones in 1874 - her initials G.B.J. are illuminated at the foot of p.1. Given by her to the Fitzwilliam Museum on 18th September, 1909 as stated in her autograph note at the end of the volume.
Bound by Roger De Coverly in citron morocco, gold tooled. Lettered on spine 'Icelandic Stories' and the three titles are lettered in full on the upper  cover, followed by 'translated and engrossed by William Morris'.</value>
