His demanding and delicate technique, and his attention to the effects of light, produced a velvety depth and richness in both black and colour, which contributed to the renascence of this graphic art. \nHis work bears some similarity to that of the Japanese engraver Kiyoshi Hasegawa. The arrangement of the composition of his engravings also shows the influence of Giorgio Morandi, of whom he was a great admirer. \nSeveral of his engravings appear on stamps. His book illustrations include works by Brillat-Savarin (Aphorismes), Lewis Carroll (Chimera), Nostradamus (Des confitures), Villiers de l\u2019Isle-Adam (Contes cruels) and G.A.
