      <type>content description</type>
<value>1 sheet folded, 2pp. Irvine writes to Mr. Marchant as he understands Lord Camelford requires an account of his endeavours to get his painting through customs without paying duty. Even with a letter from Sir Joshua Reynolds explaining that he (Irvine) was a student at the Royal Academy, was lately returned from Italy and had an unfinished picture painted by himself at the Customs House, he still had pay duty on it. He notes that Joshua Reynolds believes that the Customs Board is much more strict on these occasions that the thought they ought to be.</value>
