<value>1 sheet. Flocon is sending Strachan a copy of the ordinary edition of the Treatise, which has finally been published, and thanks him for sending the Medium Maroger.
He has recently provided 19 engravings for a volume of Jean Rostand, “Notes of a Biologist”, and is sending Strachan several of the spare pages. The book is for a society and is thus not on the market. However, if the curator at the British Museum were interested, Flocon possesses two volumes which he may sell – although, he is sorry to say, the price has been set at 30,000.
His post as a government employee at the Ecole Etienne is very demanding, and not well paid, but it is better than nothing, especially as this school is the best in France for matters relating to books. It offers a solid four-year course in practice and theory for printers, engravers and binders.
Next year the publisher Pierre Cailler in Geneva is due to bring out “Chateaux en Espagne” (“Castles in the Air”, with 15 engravings ordered by Gaston Bachelard. Hi book, “Espaces” is still in limbo, with a text by Raymond Queneau.</value>
