He asks for information from John Romney who, he believes, has his father's "pocket books" detailing the names of his sitters. He asks for "as complete a List of the Entries in such Books as you can find", to refer to for his biography. Hayley also asks "pray what is the destiny of his large Cartoons of black Chalk" as he suggested several of the subjects "& He had promised to gvie me half a dozen of them in narrow Frames - a promise that I never claimed & never mean to claim now", but Flaxman has suggested that two of them could be engraved to "decorate the Life as pleasing specimens of his Talent for original design I wish you would allow Mr Blake to copy two of them if they are still in London". He also asks John Romney to allow Blake to copy Romney's picture of the shipwreck (see p. 84 Hayley's Life of Romney). Finally, he asks for a list "of yr Fathers original Historical Sketches with the dates of their Composition as far as memory will enable you to add them", and concludes by stating that "I have before told you that instead of having been your Enemy as you so hastily surmized, I have in Truth been your Friend & assuredly I act in that character by desiring you to cooperate with me in promoting the just renown of yr Father..."
