Vivid description of the light and sky, acknowledging the onset of Spring and Summer in a couple of weeks (turn of the year from Mid-Winter) ; domestic incidents that would 'nearly overwhelm' him in the UK 'cannot affect the tenor' of his work or his 'humour' .  Describes his relationship with Hilde, that they are 'suited' and in love.  He wishes the Rogers could visit them.
