'English Landscape' or 'Various Subjects of Landscape, Characteristic of English Scenery' was a project undertaken by John Constable and the printmaker, David Lucas. It comprised of twenty-two mezzotints, and was issued between June 1830 and July 1832. A second edition was also prepared alongside letterpress text.\n\nIn his explanatory notes (Constable\/EL\/6\/1), R.B. Beckett describes this page as: ''6. Title-page issued with 1st number in 1830: Shirley's A 2.'' There is a pencil inscription below the title page, perhaps left by E.E. Leggatt (he has left remarks on other material as well).
