'English Landscape' or 'Various Subjects of Landscape, Characteristic of English Scenery' was a project undertaken by John Constable and the printmaker, David Lucas. It comprised of twenty-two mezzotints, and was issued between June 1830 and July 1832. A second edition was also prepared alongside letterpress text. In his explanatory notes (Constable/EL/6/1), R.B. Beckett describes this page as: ''7. Do. for 2nd ''edition'' of 1833. (I do not think any new title was supplied when the numbers were completed in 1832). S's A 8.'' There is a pencil inscription on the top right, perhaps left by E.E. Leggatt (he has left remarks on other material as well). It reads: ''Date altered to 1833 Various alterations'' The title page has been a part of a large brown binding (Constable/EL/2/MS36-1953/35). The sheet has been labelled 'vii'. A duplicate of this page (Constable/EL/2/1/6) is also part of the collection.
