'English Landscape' or 'Various Subjects of Landscape, Characteristic of English Scenery' was a project undertaken by John Constable and the printmaker, David Lucas. It comprised of twenty-two mezzotints, and was issued between June 1830 and July 1832. A second edition was also prepared alongside letterpress text. \n\nThe leaf has been a part of a large brown binding (Constable\/EL\/2\/MS36-1953\/35). The sheet has been labelled 'xii'. There is a pencil inscription on the top right, perhaps left by E.E. Leggatt (he has left remarks on other material as well). It reads: ''Before the word Horace added to verses \/ No 1''.\n\nIn his explanatory notes (Constable\/EL\/6\/1), R.B. Beckett describes this leaf and two following items as: ''13-15. Do.\/Jan 1833: Shirley's A 5 - 7.
