'English Landscape' or 'Various Subjects of Landscape, Characteristic of English Scenery' was a project undertaken by John Constable and the printmaker, David Lucas. It comprised of twenty-two mezzotints, and was issued between June 1830 and July 1832. A second edition was also prepared alongside letterpress text. In his explanatory notes (see Constable/EL/6/1), R.B. Beckett describes this as: ''1. Prospectus, Jan. 1833: this seems to be the front page only of a folder, Shirleys's C 2 (the same as this) probably went with his C 3 (before arrangement changed in May). Writing on back.'' L.A. Holder, former librarian at the Fitzwilliam Museum, added a note alongside this: '[' A draft & Constable to Reinagle''. The verso has a handwritten letter from Constable to Reinagle.
