Should the Creator have taken this dear child to himself again, we must know that nothing better could [^] happen to the departed - but it is but a melancholy consolation to those who remain --                                         Yours truly\n                                                                                                                John Constable\n\n<verso>\nD. Lucas [t\/n: illegible]\n\n---\n\nIn early January 1831, David Lucas' home was disturbed by the illness of his children. Constable even sent his own medical attendant, Dr Davis, to Lucas (Beckett, page 339).
