                                                            April 13th/31
Dear Lucas
               I send you the 12&#xA3; and a touched proof of the Heath the last you sent.
          I should like the cloud darker about the [?]*. and lighter about the sky at the top - but you will perhaps see the white chalk &amp; Indian ink. 
I am sorry you are ill again - I am almost knocked up - I was down at the Academy soon after six this Evng or I should have seen your brother &amp; sent this note by him

According to Beckett (pages 347-348), this letter was a reply to a letter sent by Lucas on 11 April 1831 where he requested Constable for &#xA3;12.</value>
