For
   Mr Lucas

Dear Lucas
I hope you can continue to get well - I sleep in town tonight & shall be glad to see you in the mrng - can you bring a proof of the ''morning'' - & another of the heath as mine is at Hampd [t/n: Hampstead] - I like much the alteration in the heath - is seeming indeed perfect - perhaps the new work may be a little too dark perhaps from [bur?] -- say if you cannot come & I will come to you -
                                                                                                   Yrs truly
                                                                                                               J.C.

---

Shirley dates this letter to the second half of April. However, Beckett notes that this letter was written after Constable had moved to Hampstead, 'which is not likely to have been before the end of May'.</value>
