53. Harrow Road

Dear Lucas
I am glad to hear of your being returned in so much better health. there is nothing like ''an absence'' and a ''change'' -
I am just returned. perhaps you can be here tomrrw morng -
I hope the large copies of the ''Moprning' - are printed - for the sad ''delay'' of my book has ruined my finances & will ultimately I fear ruin my profit.
Many - very many - beleive we are both at a non plus -
but I care for nothing if you are better in health. for that will fi you for greater doings -
Yours most truly
John Constable
3d Sepr, 1831,
Charlotte St.

The reference of Lucas being away, according to Beckett, relates to a short holiday he took before getting on with the printing.</value>
