TRANSCRIPT: --- <recto> D Sep. 27th 1831 Dear Lucas I am most anxious to see you -(I go to [^] old Mr Stothard at 6. for half an hour.) I fear that certainly I must engrave the ''Waterloo'' - the ships I now fear are too common place & vulgar - & will never unite with the general feeling of the book Though I want variety - I dont want a ''hotch potch'' - we must not have any one ''uncongenial'' subject. if we have it cannot fail of tinging the whole book - & imparting a discordant feeling.
