TRANSCRIPT: --- To / Mr David Lucas 57 Harrow Road Paddington Corner of Hermatage Street ~ [t/n: there are some numbers scribbled on the cover] Dear Sir Papa desires me to say that he is anxious to sea you as soon as possible for --------he has cut you out a week's work on the Salisbury I am yours truly John C Constable Sunday eveng January 15th 1832 --- Beckett notes that from end December 1831 to the middle of January 1832, Constable was confined to Hampstead as a result of a severe attack of rheumatism in December 1831. This led to the crippling of his right hand. Hence, this letter was written for him by his son, John.
