The published transcript of this letter can be found in Shirley (No. 98, page 77) and Beckett (page 375). The leaf has been numbered S98, referring to the order in Shirley's publication. A pencil inscription on the top reads ‘Front page upright [?] No date'. Shirley places this letter closely with the following item (Constable/EL/1/1/81), which he dates to the second half of March 1832. However, Beckett places these letters between May and August 1832. TRANSCRIPT: --- For Mr Lucas 57 . Harrow Road Dear Lucas I am sending Pitt to Leslies - I wish to know when you are likely to be here again? I have made a final arrangement of the ''pairs'' of the prints All who have seen your large print like it exceedingly it will be (with all the grandeur) full of detail. more than one has said this is superior to Reynolds.
